Despierta: Chilean Autism documentary: – ‘Wake up’

Despierta is the work of Chilean film makers Francesca Maestri and Nicole Collao.

This documentary film portrays the lives of 4 Autistic Chileans, culminating in their graduation from school and asks the question:

  • What happens when people stop being Autistic children (when they transition to adulthood)
  • Hence the title ‘Wake up’

The Chilean AmAsperger Foundation is working with the film directors to help with the screening of this documentary, initially around Chile.

Despierta premiered at UNIACC University, in Santiago on November 12, 2012

  • There were screenings during December, in San Antonio, Chimbarongo, and Rancagua
    • With a 3 further screenings scheduled for Chile in January 2013
  • The TV premier of Despierta was broadcast on Chile’s Cable 13, in December 2012
